Thanksgiving Break is just around the corner.
Starting Saturday and going until Nov. 29, students and teachers will get time away from school. And people are getting ready for Thanksgiving.
Corbin Waid, a seventh-grader at Duncan Middle School, said he is excited for Thanksgiving Break because there is no school.
“My family comes over for Thanksgiving and we eat,” Waid said.
Thanksgiving is important to Waid because there is a lot of food. He said his family’s tradition is to eat turkey, which is also his favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal.
But that’s not all he enjoys food-wise.
“We have pumpkin pie for dessert,” Waid said.
His favorite pie is chocolate pie.
Andrew McFarland, another DMS student, is also excited about Thanksgiving.
“It’s a time to give thanks to the things our Savior does and has given to us,” McFarland said. “We usually have the tradition of eating food and having a good time.”
Mcfarland’s favorite pie and dessert is pumpkin pie with whip cream. His favorite meal consists of ham, turkey, sweet rolls and soda.
Laura Stewart, a DMS seventh-grade student, is excited about Thanksgiving Break.
Stewart said she has a golf tournament during Thanksgiving Break.
“Thanksgiving Break is important to me because I get to spend time with my family,” Stewart said.
Her family meets at their house and share their homemade meals.
She said her favorite food to have at Thanksgiving is sweet potatoes. Her favorite dessert is chocolate pie.
Thanksgiving Break is the first break students and teachers have had from school since Fall Break, more than a month ago. Although that break gave them brain breaks, Thanksgiving Break is a time for many to spend time with family and eat lots of food.
