Ever since Fall Break, the Duncan Middle School bands have been practicing for the annual Christmas concert.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Duncan High School Auditorium.
The seventh and eighth-grade band will play four songs during the concert, while sixth grade will play seven or eight songs because of the length of the songs. The songs the seventh and eighth-graders will play are “Bells,” “Belligerence,” “Winter Fiesta” and “Welcome Christmas.”
Aside from the middle school bands, the high school regular and jazz bands will be playing, too.
The directors of each band are Dawn Haas directing the sixth grade, and Rocio Garcia directing the seventh and eighth-graders.
“I’m not really nervous for the concert,” eighth-grade band member Jentry Smiths said. “I think the band is ready.”
Seventh-grade band member Kahlen Wininger had similar thoughts. Wininger said the band was ready to perform.
The seventh and eighth-grade bands will have combined rehearsals that are scheduled for Thursday and Monday. The band members will practice for three hours those days, so that all the people in the band can play together prior to the concert.
The band members have worked on the songs every day since they received them. The songs were selected by the directors based on skill level and style, as well as if it fit the theme.
