On Monday, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt called for a day of prayer across all of Oklahoma as a way for everyone too come together and pray for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Day of Prayer was set for Thursday with a goal of praying for people’s physical, emotional and mental well-being. On Thursday, teachers at Duncan Middle School came together that morning to pray.
Several teachers showed up to pray for themselves and the others around the world as they faced the pandemic. At DMS, special education teacher Sonia Norton called for prayer that morning.
“Being together in prayer gives us a bond that ties us all together in the good times and the bad times,” Norton said. “It was important for us to show our DMS family that we are all in this together and care for each and everyone of us.”
One of the prayers the DMS staff had was for Mason Hightower and his family. Hightower recently had a heart transplant, despite being 24 years old.
The prayer took place in the Elective Hallway and was led by counselor Bubba Clark.
