After so long of living through a pandemic, the state of Oklahoma still hasn’t issued a statewide mask mandate. One man that holds most of the blame is the current Oklahoma governor, Kevin Stitt.
Stitt has already gotten COVID-19 once, so it makes no sense to me why he wouldn’t want to protect Oklahoma citizens from experiencing the same thing. Stitt is also often seen without a mask, or taking his mask off within minutes of walking into a building.
If Oklahoma had a mask mandate, cases of COVID-19 would go down without a doubt. Although citizens wear their mask at school and work, what happens when they get out? Would they go to a football game where nobody is wearing masks, or would they simply go to a local grocery store and refuse to wear one?
Some people will reject the idea of a mask mandate ‘till the day the virus is over and argue that masks don’t help, and to that I say one thing: don’t get your “facts” from Facebook. Scientists and medical professionals will both tell you just how important the one simple task of wearing a mask is. This is why Oklahoma should have had a mandate by now.
Stay safe during the pandemic, wear your mask.
