Duncan Middle School’s season opener for football resulted in a win for the eighth-grade team and a loss for the seventh-grade team.
The eighth-graders won with a final score of 34 to Wichita Falls’ (Texas) final score of 6 during the home game.
“I think we did good,” Tate Wilkins, eighth-grade football player, said. “We still have a lot of things to work on, but we beat a pretty good team.”
Adam Clifton, another eighth-grade player, had similar thoughts.
“I think the game went really well, but there is lot of room for improvement,” Clifton said, echoing the sentiments instilled in the players by Coach Tony Wilkins following the game.
The seventh-grade team did not do as well as the eighth-grade team. The team lost in their away game with a final score of 20 to 12.
Matt Davis, seventh-grade coach, said he was excited and nervous about the game. Davis said he hoped the students would play hard and have fun.
Davis said he was disappointed in his players for poor tackling, which he thinks cost DMS the game.
