On Friday, the Demon wrestling team faces off against numerous teams in a tournament in Edmond Santa Fe. This is the first wrestling tournament for the team of the semester.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m., and it is for junior varsity and novice wrestlers. Most of the team will be going on Friday to it.
One wrestler who is preparing for the tournament is Deacon Clark.
“I hope to get a good double leg in to get the opponent down,” Clark said on his approach to take down his opponents in matches.
Although he said he has not been at his best this season, he thinks that the team as a whole has done well in tournaments this season. At this tournament, he hopes he will do well and beat some people in matches.
He also said he will wrestle “a good amount of people.”
The team has participated in numerous tournaments since their first on Nov. 7, and have been practicing since late October. Since then, they have not yet won first place overall, but they have had some individual winners in their respective weight classes.
Some of those winners include Bryson Tidwell and Jack Ensey.
After this tournament, there will be another tournament the day after this tournament, and it will be on Saturday. It will be held at Altus and will start at 10 in the morning, and another Altus tournament on the Jan. 12.
This marks the halfway point in the season. The season will draw to a close in early February with the state meet in Oklahoma City.
