At Duncan Middle School, there are dozens of people with good shoes, but there are a couple of people with great shoe game.
Among those students is seventh-grader Jackson Lohrer.
“I like shoes because you can keep collecting them,” Lohrer said. “I started collecting shoes when I was eight years old.”
For Lohrer shoes are a family tradition.
“The reason I collect shoes is because my dad has always had cool shoes, and I wanted to be like my dad,” Lohrer said.
Although Lohrer is known around DMS for his shoe game, he isn’t the only seventh-grader who stands out because of what’s on his feet.
Sawyer Rice, another seventh-grader, also gets noticed because of his shoes.
“My favorite part of shoes is the way they look and also the way they make your feet feel safe and secure,” Rice said.
Shoe game plays an important role at Duncan Middle School. In fact, the 2020-21 Duncan Middle School Yearbook “The Flame” will feature Best Shoe Game in its Eighth-Grade Favorite selections.
Eli Ramirez and Jocelyn Vargas were selected by their fellow eighth-graders because of their shoe selection.
Rice said the shoes are an important part of any outfit.
“Shoes are probably the best piece of apparel a person can wear,” Rice said. “You could have on great clothes, but bad shoes will make it look bad.”
For seventh-grader Atticus Booth, shoes are more than just the importance of completing an outfit; shoes offer protection feet need.
“I think shoes are important because without them we would have muddy feet,” Booth said.
He said his favorite shoe brand is Nike, which is known for its athletic shoe styles.
“I like Nikes because they are comfy and because they have different styles of shoes so you can be unique,” Booth said.
But regardless of shoe brand, there are plenty of Duncan Middle School students who like to show off their shoe game.
