The Duncan Band will be selling mattresses from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the middle school cafeteria.
In addition to mattresses, there will be pillows, bases and other items too. This is one of the biggest fundraisers for the band because of everything sold.
The idea is that band members go out and ask people to come down to the middle school and buy a mattress. If the customer makes a purchase, then those members earn some money. Most of the earnings go to the band.
The goal is to sell more than 35 mattresses Saturday.
“I feel that we can reach our goal if people will get the word out,” band director Dawn Haas.
For band members every mattress bought by a person that they told about the sale, the member gets 25 dollars until a third or above is sold. Then it becomes 50 dollars for those people.
The mattresses are up to 50 percent less expensive than a mattress in a store.
There will be many different varieties of mattresses, and the prices range form 199 dollars to more than 2,700 dollars. All sizes and types of mattresses will be available for sale.
The customers will not get their items the same day, as it will take a number of weeks for those buyers to get their mattresses.
“Each year is different in the amount of money we have received. In the year of COVID, all we can do is hope for the best,” Haas said.
