Track season will be coming very soon with practices starting on February 9th. Track gives students opportunities to do the events they love like hurdles shot put and disc, long jump and pole vault. It will be a lot different this year due to covid. Mandy Robbins Duncan Middle school track coach says that there are a lot of students that joined this year and is positive that we can get through the track season without cancellation due to the new covid 19 policies. Hollie Johnson shot put and discus coach says that this year the throwers might start lifting weights and doing a lot more throwing in the ring and less cardio, but maybe some sprinting and working on strength and explosiveness and she says this year we don’t have a lot of students that joined shot put and discus but since we have a smaller group practices will be easier following the covid guidelines and staying 6 feet apart . This track season we have five track meets are first one being in Duncan on March 11 at the highschool and are next track meets at Pauls Valley, Plainview, Ada and are last track meet at Marlow .We have one more week till practice starts this coming up Tuesday we will be practicing till 3:00 through 5:00 every day the runners practicing at the track and the throwers practicing at the rings by the softball field .
