Duncan Middle School students who are participating in throwing have started practice.
It has been going pretty good, so far we have been working on a lot of footwork and when to release. Tuesday we worked more on shot put.
We have been practicing rolling the discuss, and I personally have been working on my release to get better at shot put, and working more on my speed and footwork for discuss. We have a lot of runners that are throwing this year, that are pretty good. Some just come to practice every other day, and some just do discuss.
Some people just do shot put, though. This year, coach says that there will only be 4 kids doing shot put, and then everyone else will be doing discuss, including the ones that are doing shot put.
Next week we have a track meet on March 11. Coach has set several personal records, a.k.a “p.r.”
Personal Records are how far you throw, or to get a personal best. For a lot of us, Coach Robbins has set a p.r. between 40 and 30.
Hopefully we will all place at our track meet next week. We only have a week before the track meet, and I hope we can get all of the techniques down before the meet!
