Halo week is coming to a close, as many more people dress up and support halo and it’s many fundraisers. H.A.L.O. stands for “Helpful Attitudes Leading Others.” HALO Week was March first through the fifth.
Jitters Coffee was going to give ten percent of all of its profits from sales to HALO Week, but because of a robbery, jitters had to close. Other places were also donating percentages of their daily sales to HALO, including Catalyst Nutrition, Wishbone, La Tapatia, and Johnny’s. This week had many different dress-up days like Marvel day, Safari day, Space day, Disney day, and HALO spirit day.
They also had many fundraisers, including a coin drive, a dodgeball tournament, a family fun night, a movie night, a donation reveal/pep rally, HALO dance, Hurts Doughnuts, free coffee and a hat day.
On Marvel day, Cathay Barker, said “Student Halo week has been a tradition in DMS for years and it still continues to this day”
Kayden Armstrong said “I’m dressed up as spider man. The reason I dressed up as him is because I like spiderman.”
On Friday, the totals came in and 8th grade won by 20 dollars.
- 8th raised $168.25
- 7th raised $140.61
- 6th raised $93.24
In total DMS raised $401.10 raised for Mason Hightower and Gabriel’s House.
Sonia Norton said “Because we raise money for groups or individuals for their financial costs, we do HALO Week every year,”“We are raising money for Mason Hightower and Gabriel’s House.”
