Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know a few things before I start talking about the tennis tournament.
The “Charlie Thorne and the Last City” book is out, and I am currently reading it. It is so good, but sadly I have not had much free time this week to read it, so I am only on page 40.
Also, I had my first tennis tournament last Tuesday. It was so much fun, and the Duncan Red team (the team I was on) got 3rd out of the whole thing. Personally, I played doubles with both Hannah Wood, and Charly Heath, and I won 2 matches, and lost one.
Today, I wanted to give you a run down on last Tuesday’s tournament.
There were six new people on the team, because we were at Duncan, and we could take as many people as we wanted. When we got there, Duncan’s first round was a bye, which meant that we had about a one to one and a half hour break before we played an actual match.
Once the bye was over, Woods and I were paired for doubles, and we sadly lost that match. It was 4-1 the first set, and 4-1 the second set.
And then Heath and I were paired up, and we won, 4-2 and 5-3. After that, we played Altus, and it was so hard. We did win, but we lost the first set, and we had to come back in the super tiebreaker.
The first set, Altus won, 4-2, but Heath and I came back and won the second set with 5-3. At first they had two games won, and we had only won one. But, we pulled through and won. Then we played a super tiebreaker, and won, 10-3!
Overall, I think that that tournament was the most fun I have ever had playing tennis. I would totally recommend playing tennis next year for anyone who wants to play or get good at it.
Have a great week. I know that 6th and 7th graders are OCCT testing this week, so good luck.
