Pickleball is one of the weirdest sports out there.
It’s like tennis, but with a wiffleball, a smaller court and smaller rackets with no strings.
I’ve only played the sport once: on a family trip to Hot Springs National Park. We stayed at a lake, and they had a peninsula with some volleyball and basketball, but pickleball was also available with rackets and balls. I’d heard of the game but never had seen it.
My family played for hours, hosting fun tournaments and hit around. Afterward, I was sad to see it go.
I’ve seen some courts on a couple of tennis tournaments, and I and my brother hit around with tennis gear on it. At one tournament in Ardmore, some elderly locals were playing and played for a long time, which proves it is fun for all ages.
Now, to play: you can only swing upward, and not above your waist. The ball doesn’t bounce high, so it really isn’t much of a problem. It follows many of the tennis rules, too. Other rules are found online.
To close, I like pickleball, but there aren’t any courts here in Duncan that I know of. Maybe one day they might near the tennis courts or at the country club.
I can deal with tennis in the meantime.
