There have been several DMS tennis tournaments in the past week. Two tournaments took place on Saturday, with one being at Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City for girls and boys and another took place at Shawnee for girls with a chance of qualifying for State. The girls team did qualify, so now both DMS teams have made their spots for State. Also, Monday there was a boys tournament at Shawnee and a girls tournament Tuesday at Ada. Both were qualifiers, but both teams had already qualified, so the tournament had the same stakes as any other one..
Brady Earsom, an eighth grader, was one of the tennis players who played in the tournament Monday and Saturday. Earsom played the two doubles position with Cole Crimmins, a seventh grader. He thinks he has done well this season as a whole, but feels like he needs to work on his serves and volleys. Amid the qualification of State, Earsom is excited for the team and wants them to succeed and do well..
“My favorite part of the season was at the Duncan tournament when me and my partner Nolan Coskery placed 1st,” Earsom remarked.
“I feel like I have improved a lot since the beginning of the season and am doing well.”
The end of the season is drawing near, and many tournaments have taken place over the course of the season. With only two left for each team, it is the end of another tennis season at DMS.
The girls’ State tournament has been scheduled for May fourth, while the boys have theirs a week later, on May 11th. The two teams are also going to another tournament on Thursday to Altus, where sixth graders are allowed to play as one of only two in which they are allowed to participate.
