Recently, Duncan Middle School students and staff practiced the safety drills. Safety drills are very important for each school just in case if one of these drills happens, all the students will know what to do then it’s not a surprise.
These drills include intruder, tornado, evacuation, lockdown, and fire drill.
Landon Chambless, an 8th-grade student, has his own opinions of the drills. Chambless says, “The drills are boring and take too much time.” Landon’s favorite drill is the intruder drill while his least favorite is the bus evacuation drill.
Another 8th-grade student, Ainsley Hennan, explains her feelings about the safety drills. She thinks the drills are a little bit boring but necessary. Hennan says, “my favorite drill is gen. evacuation but my least favorite drill is the lockdown drill.”
Icelly Monterrosa, a 6th-grade student, expresses her viewpoint of the safety drills. Monterrosa mentioned, “the drills are scary to me because it makes me think about what could happen.” Icelly states that her favorite drill is the tornado drill and her least favorite drill is the intruder drill.
We practice these drills for our safety. The drills are mandatory for the school here in Oklahoma, which is why we practice these drills at least two times each school year. Hopefully, these drills will just stay drills.
