At Duncan middle school eligibility is a big deal when you do sports. Every person who plays sports needs to have high eligibility, If not you won’t be able to play the sport that you are in. Every person has eligibility but it’s sure to be a big deal when you play sports.
Coach Pena, the wrestling coach at DMS said, “You need to understand sports are a privilege, they need to focus on classwork instead of sports first.” Pena also said, “it’s crucially important, if you don’t pass you don’t play, kids education is pretty important, sports will only get you so far.” “Grades are a lot easier than tests, it’s one and done, grades would be their whole history of things they’ve done,” said Pena.
Coach Darnell, a coach for Duncan middle school, said,”Having eligibility is a good way to be reasonable for your grades.” Sadly not everyone can make it in the eligible list with grades though. Darnell said, “It’s very important, grades come first, sports come second. If we did testing it would be a lot more stressful than just keeping track of your grades,” said Coach Darnell.
Our coaches here at Duncan Middle School rely on their players, and the players rely on their grades. Without good grades you are destined to fail, and most likely they will get kicked off the team. Trust your coaches’ opinion and stay hard at work, and hopefully hard on the field, or the mats!
