Interns are some high school students coming and watching to learn how that job is done. These students pick their intern job based on what they seem most interested to do in the future. At the Duncan Middle School, they have 3 interns this year. The juniors and seniors are allowed to enroll to take the career pathways, and that is taken as an elective class.
Ali Maldonado, one of the interns expresses her feelings about the intern job that she has. Maldonado picks to be with English because he wants to be an ELA teacher when she is older. Ali Maldonado says “I am taking a liking to it so far and I love working with the younger kids here.” She said that she is really excited about this year’s internship and she can’t wait for more to come.
Chris Perkins tells his feelings around the interns and how they are doing so far. Perkins thinks it is a very good program it gives a chance for the student to know what they are getting into before it actually happens. He says “ it gives them an opportunity to shadow someone in the field.” Chris Perkins explains that he was an intern himself and that he found it very helpful for him.
Interns are very helpful for all the students who want to what is in for them before it actually happens. How the high school students do this is the Career Pathways class at the high school, to match them with a businesses area.
