The famous Chromebook made its first appearance into the eager hands of the seventh-grader student at Duncan Middle School, at toward the end of the 2016-17 school year.
This year they’re back. All Duncan Middle School students will receive a Chromebook.
Eighth-graders got their Chromebooks Thursday and Friday, while sixth and seventh-graders are expected to get their Chromebooks after Labor Day.
With the new school year comes new possibilities, especially in the classroom. This year, all staff members hope the advancements of technology will bring advancements in the students’ education.
Christy Clark, eighth-grade English teacher, said, “ It will make research easier. As a class, we won’t have to fight over the computer lab, as well as all aspects of writing will be made easier because everyone has access.”
Clark is excited about the advancements the school is making. She said she isn’t worried about students being off task because teachers have access to computer programs that allow them to look at the computer screens of their students.
As an English teacher, she’s excited about students being able to download books.
Ayden Brandt, an eighth-grade student at DMS, is excited about the Chromebooks, too. As a student growing up in technology, Brandt isn’t worried about not being able to keep up with it.
He said everything has become easier, and students can look things up whenever they need.
