There’s a new club at DMS.
Teachers Sherry McGhghy and Derrick Miller started Greeters Club. The point of the club is to make students and teachers at DMS feel welcome.
Students in the club stand at the door and greet the kids or teachers walking into the building.
“It could be the only smile someone receives all day; so it’s very important,” McGhghy said.
Right now there are nine people in Greeters Club. McGhghy said she would like to recruit more. Students wanting to join should know they need to be at school by 7:15 a.m. and shouldn’t be afraid to speak to kids or say hello.
Greeters Club is important because everyone deserves to feel welcome, McGhghy said. It could brighten up someone’s entire day and make them feel better about themselves.
