School is canceled for today, following concerns over slick roadways as students and teachers prepared for their commutes to school.
Just before 6 a.m. today, Duncan Public Schools sent out messages about the school closure. This is the third consecutive day the school district has canceled classes. At the start of the week, Duncan dismissed early because of precipitation freezing on the roads.
According to the message sent out by Duncan Public Schools, “While weather conditions look to improve this afternoon, the roads have the possibility of having ice during the morning commute. Erring on the side of safety for students on school buses, as well as students and employees traveling, we have made the decision to close Thursday, Feb. 2.
“The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority. Thank you for your understanding. We will see everyone Friday, Feb. 3.”
