Soccer has officially started.
Now that basketball season is over, the girls soccer team is ready to get their games underway. Their first tournament will be Feb. 17. Many of the players are excited, while others are nervous.
Ariana Marquez, an eighth-grade soccer player, said she thinks the practices are going well so far. She said she enjoys the practices because they are fun. Her favorite part about practices are the stretches. Her least favorite part about practice is running at the end because the teammates run suicides or run four or five laps every practice.
Marquez isn’t sure if she will be a started, but she hopes she will.
She decided to join the soccer team this year because she played the sport when she was little and wants to continue playing.
Nadia Vitolas, eighth-grader, said the practices are going good so far.
The students are no longer in off-season for soccer. Vitolas is excited the sport has officially started.
She said she doesn’t think she will be a starter this year, but she is going to try to become a starter. She also wants to be either a goal keeper or a forward for the team.
Vitolas said she enjoys practices because they’re fun and she enjoys spending time with her friends. Her least favorite part of practice is when its over because she likes practice.
She likes playing soccer because she thinks it’s fun to hang out with her close friends and practice one of her favorite sports.
Estrella Nieto-Mauricio, eighth grade student athlete, said she wanted to play soccer this year because she’s loved soccer since she was little and still does to this day.
Nieto-Mauricio also said that the practices are going well and enjoys them because they’re fun. Although she doesn’t know if she’ll be a starter, she said that if she keeps pushing herself and showing effort she will most likely become a starter.
She said she likes soccer and the practices because she gets to spend time with her friends.
