Throughout the week most notably on Tuesday, during some of the 7th Hour classes that were working, there was an unexpected problem with the internet which made it cut off from the school system and from their chromebooks including students’ chromebooks causing some disruption.
Some of the teachers and their classes have not expected this at all, resulting in some changes from their work as a withdrawal from it, or continuing to do the same thing while they waited for the internet to come back on so they could finish up on what they started off with.
Some of the students and the staff however, still do not know what caused the outage to happen so suddenly almost during the end of the day, having no clue of it at all or no remark on it. While some of the students have not really shown care in any of this, some of the staff working at the Middle School may have figured out to know the solution and to why the internet has not been working at all for all of them, and was horribly bad during this week for a lot of people.
One of the Duncan Middle School teachers, Mrs. Wheeler claims that apparently what may have caused it was
construction work nearby. ¨We had to stop working on our google classroom work, and we tried refreshing the page waiting for it to come back¨, is what they did during the event while in their classroom trying to continue the work.
Mr. Hightower, one of the Duncan Middle School principals for this year, has stated that one of the cable companies AT&T identified the problem to be a cable problem near the area. ¨It was with a contractor working with another producer, but AT&T quickly responded to the problem with us getting fast internet the next day. But before that businesses and schools did not have any working wifi.¨ While the problem is now fixed, it may be able to occur again. Still no information about it though.
