Last week on Sunday, February 26, 2023, there was severe weather across Oklahoma, this weather affected Duncan. Students at Duncan Middle School were asked how they felt about this weather and how it affected them. Duncan Middle School Newspaper interviewed Sitota Mullins, Savannah Brady, Victoria Lopez, and Brittany Leos.
First to be interviewed was an eighth grader named Sitota Mullins, she said she worried during the storm. Mullins was asked what she was doing during the storm. “Literally in the shower,” she says.“I was thinking hopefully my room doesn’t fall because my room is upstairs,” Mullins said. Sitota’s power went out but luckily nothing else around her area got damaged.
Second, to be interviewed was sixth grader Savannah Brady. Savannah’s area got a little damaged. Brady says her power went out which sucked because her phone was at 20%, a fence in her neighborhood also fell in the middle of the road. Savannah was asked what she was thinking about at the moment of the storm, she says, “I thought we were going to be hit by a tornado and die.” “I was in my room then went to the living room when the sirens went off,” Brady added.
Third, to be interviewed was Victoria Lopez. Lopez was on the phone when the storm was happening. Her power had also gone out. She was asked what she was thinking at the moment and she said, “I was thinking ‘When would the power turn back on?’ at home.” Lopez also said that the storm was scary! Nothing got damaged in Victoria’s area but she says her heart definitely got damaged.
The final person who was interviewed was Brittany Leos. Leos says that the weather scared her while it was happening. She was in the living room with her family and she was thinking, “When is it gonna end.” Her power went out and some trash cans in her neighborhood fell over.
