Not long ago, on March 6th, boys and girls soccer competed in soccer against Lawton Central. Tristen Carrasco, 8th grade soccer player, stated “we will be playing Lawton Central, I think that we will win, but there is always a chance that we could lose.”
Carrasco went on to say, “ Lawton Central is very competitive, but I think that we will all have fun. I am also very excited when they call names.” Tanner Greening and Felishia Millsap are the coaches for the boys soccer team and Victor Acosta Mark Hayes are the girls coaches.
Delayna Holthaus is one of the soccer players on the girls team. Holthaus stated “I think we played well, but we could have done some things better that is with every team though.” She went on to say “We won 6-0 and we did good as a team. I think we worked nicely together.”
“I think that our team needs to work on switching the field, communication, and keeping our heads up”, she stated. She also scored off of a corner kick, she curved the ball while making the kick in the air and the goalie missed it. She stated “my favorite part was scoring off of a corner kick because I thought it was pretty cool. The overall game was so fun and exciting.”
After the game Carrasco stated, “I think we did well in the first half, but we can improve in the 2nd half of our game. I think that we need to work on not shooting directly at the goalie.”
He went on to say, “ if I could change anything about the game, I would change putting me in in the 2nd half because I think I could have benefited our team. I think that overall the game was really fun, but our first touches needed work, but I think that we played well.”
Over all, everyone had a pretty good time, weather they won, or lost.
