At Duncan Middle School students have returned from a two month summer break. Students started summer break on May 19th. Students returned on Wednesday. Students have a total of 7 classes, however if 7th and 8th grade students participate in sports that will count as an elective for their 7th hour instead of having a normal class.
Travis Brooks is a 6th grade student at Duncan Middle School when Brooks was asked about his thoughts on 6th grade and being new to the school, he stated
“It’s going good and it is fun.”
Savannah Brady is a 7th grade student at Duncan Middle School, Brady stated, “It is hard but it could be tougher.” When asked about the difficulty of her classes.
Jack Lovett is a 8th grade student at Duncan Middle School, he stated, ” I wish it started an hour later.”
At Duncan Middle School Whitney Gdanski is a 7th grade teacher. Gdanski teaches English for her choice of subject. She stated “I think the first day went well, it was smooth, the kids seemed to be happy. The kids got their lockers open first try.” She then went on to say “If I could change something about the first day of school, I would change the time snd make it where we start school to 10:00 am because it is hard to get up after 3 months off.”
She then went on to say, “My biggest class this year is a total of 22 seventh grade students.” With the 8th grade class moved and now freshmen at Duncan high school she stated, “I will miss a few of the 8th graders who are now freshmen.” She continued with ” I am very happy with the new gym. I think it looks so much better and upgraded. I can tell they worked hard on it.”
