The China and Taiwan situation has always been a thorn in the side of the earth ever since the rise of the Communist party in China, when the Qing Dynasty fell apart in 1911, the Republic of China rose up from 1912 to 1949. By 1927 the Chinese Communists Party started a revolution against the Chinese Nationalists. That was until the Japanese Empire invaded the Chinese and started destroying everything.
Both China and Taiwan had worked together by the Second United Front against the Japanese. By the end of the Second World War, I believe that the Chinese were exhausted, and the Communists took advantage and continued the revolution. In 1949, the Communists took the mainland and the Nationalists fled to Taiwan. Ever since then China has been laying claims all over Taiwan as just a rebellious province of China. Although when the one China Policy was introduced since the United States recognized both, they were forced to choose either one. The communists did not like the idea of Two Chinas so that’s why the Communists proposed the idea.
Taiwan to the United States is a key U.S partner, however they cannot hold diplomatic relations with Taiwan. However with tension rising it seems that China is planning to take Taiwan in the near future. My personal opinion on the matter is mixed. Of course I like both countries because I find them unique in their own ways, and this is not a target against any Chinese people, however I don’t agree with the Chinese Government, although of course every country has their faults.
I would side more with the Taiwanese due to the Chinese not taking over a country that doesn’t belong to them, unfortunately I cannot stop what might happen. I am hoping for a peaceful resolution between the two but with tensions between the West and East rising it seems war is inevitable. Anyway I do support both countries in the matter as both are great and fantastic. For now we can only hope that things will get better from here on out.
