All I hear every time it’s game day is “Do you think cheer is a sport?”
As everyone knows, sports that are usually associated with me are typically considered more dangerous and more competitive. What some people may not know is that cheer started with men.
When people list all the different kinds of sports, cheer is never listed. Why is that?
Cheer is a sport because of all the stunts they hit and all of the stunts they don’t hit. People get hurt in every sport, including cheer, which could lead to a concussion, broken bone, etc. It takes a bunch of courage to trust in the girls to cheer for a stunt.
People will continue to say it is not a sport, but when they watch these girls they will realize how they were wrong. The only thing they don’t see is them working for five hours a day marking it and getting it clean.
Most things they have to do is worry about all the accidents that the stunts will cause when they do practice and the competition. All the kids that base the flyers are also one of the hardest jobs in cheer. If you drop to main person in the stunt that could cause lots of running and the flyer has to regain the trust.
This is why cheer is a sport.
