These past few weeks have been very frightening for many students including myself. Since starting 8th grade I have been more busy with schoolwork and homework than ever before. Most students could relate, especially the new sixth graders. Being the new students at DMS can be challenging, especially if you don’t have any older siblings or friends. When starting 8th grade I was very scared to meet my new teachers and classmates. When you’re an eighth grader it’s a lot of pressure because you have many students looking up to you. I am less worried now that I have a feel for my new classes and teachers. Some of my favorite classes throughout my DMS years had to be Health, Art, Social Studies, and Math.
I had a very rough year in sixth grade due to my lack of confidence in myself to do my work. I felt it would be better to just not do the work and fail because it was hard. I hope the new sixth graders will be better than me and at least try to do the work. Though I had a rough patch I managed and did my best to try to get my grades up.
The following year I tried my hardest to keep my grades up and do good in my classes. I had even got into honors classes and I was honestly surprised but happy. With my experiences at DMS, I would recommend you try your hardest and if you have trouble ask your teachers for help because you don’t want to fail.
