The 8th-grade football coach is the new ISI teacher. ISI stands for in-school intervention. Students get ISI by getting in trouble in school or on campus. Jordon Dotson, the 8th-grade football coach, joined the DMS staff as the new ISI teacher after the previous teacher, Cayd Hall, left. Hall was the ISI teacher at the beginning of the school year. He left due to getting another position to teach at a different school. Dotson said, “I’m excited to be the new ISI teacher because it’s a great opportunity.”
He stated, “My job is to make sure all the kids that come into my room do the work they are assigned and to teach them to be better students.” He said, “With me being in the DMS building, I will hold the football boys to higher standards as students and players.” Cord Byerly, an 8th-grade football player, says, “With Coach Dotson being in the building, it makes me want to do better as a student and make him proud.”
Last year, Tyronne Rock, the old football coach, left for personal reasons but was also the old ISI teacher for DMS. Football player Isaaic Holbrook said, “I don’t feel any different about our coach being the ISI teacher because our last coach was also the ISI teacher in 7th grade.” Now that football season is over Dotson has less work to do with sports. He said, “I decided to teach in the ISI room because it is a great opportunity to be with the football players and it will prepare me for teaching when I get my degree.”
Football season is now over and Dotson’s players, Cord Byerly and Isaaic Holbrook said, “We think our Coach is fit to be the ISI teacher because he is good with discipline and he knows how to make kids act right.”
