The incentive party is a party they hold at Duncan Middle School for the students who meet all of the requirements for the time. 8th-grade student Dani Messenger said, “Those requirements are no more than 5 tardies, no more than 3 absences, no grades less than a C, and no office referrals.” If students meet the requirements and attend the party they will get to join in on many different games and activities.
Whitney Gdanski, 7th grade English teacher, said, “At the Incentive party last year the students went outside to play games like Jenga, Connect Four, frisbee, and many different sports.” Gdanski said, “The incentive party is an excellent way for students who work hard to be rewarded because I feel that sometimes they do not get rewarded enough.”
Messenger said, “I think many students will try and meet the requirements this year because it is more of a new thing.” She also said that she thinks the requirements that are needed to get into the party are fair because they are pretty easy to accomplish unless the student doesn’t do their work or go to school.
This year the incentive party is coming and coming fast as it is said to be scheduled on the 14 of November. Although the Incentive party is coming up soon the school Winter/Fall dance is coming up even sooner with it being this Friday, November 10, 2023. This causes students to be even more aware of their grades and responsibilities. Whitney Gdanski said, “I believe the students will be more wary of their grades and the effort they are putting in as the incentive party and school dance is closing in and you must be eligible to go.” She also went on to talk about how this causes fewer tardies and absences which means more work is being done.
