There’s a new 7th-grade social studies teacher in Duncan Middle School. Her name is Ashley Ford. Ford teaches alongside the other 7th-grade social studies teacher, Chuck Wagner. Before coming to DMS she taught 4th grade at one of Duncan’s elementary schools, however the school board wanted her to teach 7th-grade social studies instead.
She said “ I teach social studies because it’s the best. I think it is the best subject to teach because it’s interesting and fun to learn about.” she went on to say, “ I think I do a good job at teaching social studies because the kids in my class tell me that I am good at it, and they seem engaged in the lessons.”
Jai McCurdy is one of her students. McCurdy said, “She’s the best teacher, and we are happy to have her. My favorite thing about Miss Fored’s class is that we get to eat. Miss Ford lets you eat in her class because she is a nice teacher.” He went on to say, “ The students in Ms. Fored’s class say that the class is fun and involves hands-on activities. In Miss Fored’s class, you get to present presentations. In Miss Fored’s class, you write a lot about history.”
Kian Sayson is another student, Sayson said, “I think that my least favorite thing about her class is that she doesn’t let the students eat every day, only some days. In Miss Fored’s class, we take notes, take tests, and study. I and other students in Miss Fored’s class say we feel like they will get pretty good grades in her class.” He went on to say, “The students in her class say they need this class so they can be better at social studies and history doesn’t repeat and so you can learn about history.”
