Halo Week is a fundraiser that Duncan High School holds every year to raise money for someone who needs it. The word “Halo” stands for helpful attitude leading others.
2024 Halo Week will be happening from February 26th to March 1st, Halo will be hosting many events starting on the 1st of February to earn money for the fundraiser.
DHS Student Council will reveal the Halo on March 4th. On the reveal day, they have a big pep rally and bring the person they are saving the money for. This year’s Halo for Duncan High School is Dylan Harty.
Adyson Cook is a seventh grader who attends Duncan Middle School. Cook said, “My favorite part about Halo week is everything. I am trying to make it to all Halo week events this year,” she continued with, “Halo week is a big deal for me because I know it is important to other people because it helps them and it gives you something to look forward to every day.”
Every year Duncan has recipients for Halo. Halo recipients are people and organizations who show their love of the community and help others. This year’s recipients are Beautiful Day, Special Olympics, Dylan Harty, and Ashton’s Army. Each recipient will be receiving donations. All of the money raised will be split between the 4.
Halo Week has so many different fundraisers, such as the Halo Week golf tournament, the golf tournament will be held at Duncan Golf and Tennis Club. There will be halo week Valentine grams for Duncan High School, this is where students can purchase Valentine grams for eachother. There are also 2024 Halo Week shirts and sweatshirts that the community can purchase to support Halo Week, there’s Mr. DHS, and more.
Madison Gibson is a seventh grader who also attends Duncan Middle School. Gibson said, “I think my favorite part about halo week is all of the things that the school does for halo week and all of the charity that goes on.” She said, “I will probably try to attend the halo events as long as I’m not busy. I think Halo week is very important because it is a big good deed, and it gives everyone a chance to do something kind and donate to fundraisers and charity.”
