The eligibility list has been updated.
Amie Moore, one of the principles of DMS, says that the eligibility list is a list that gets printed every Monday. If one is on the list, they will have to get off within 2 weeks until they’re not allowed to play in their sport. This doesn’t mean that if they’re on the list one day and then about 2 months later they end up back on it and they have to deal with the time left from the last time they were on it.
She says that 6th grade is normally the grade with the least people on the list while 7th and 8th are normally the main percentage of the list, containing about 15 people between 7th and 8th grade, and when asked if someone was on the list, and wanted to get off it to play their sports, they should get with their teacher and discuss how they could raise their grades.
Yovanna Hernandez a DMS 8th grader says that they know about the list, and knows about it because of the intercoms. Hernandez also says that she doesn’t mind the eligibility list because she normally gets good grades, and she thinks that it’s good because it encourages people to keep their grades up or they won’t be able to play their sports. When asked if they could talk to someone on the eligibility list who was trying to get off it, she said “Be a better kid.”
Adahir Gonzalez knows about the eligibility list and found it out by a staff member. He feels like the list is good because it makes people who are in sports want to keep their grades so they can play their sport. And when asked what he would do if someone was on it, he would help them out on their work, especially on their math work.
