Student Council will be hosting the annual DMS spring dance. This year’s dance theme will be space. The student council is still working to decide on the official title of the dance. It will be held on April 25th, from around 6 PM to 8 PM. All students, 6th through 8th grade can attend as long as they are passing all of their classes and do not have ISI or are expelled.
Ruby Miller is the student council president and is on the dance committee. Miller said, “We wanted something fun but not formal, formal is fun but so much work. Plus there are kids who might not be able to afford formal attire and we want to be mindful of that so everyone can attend the dance and feel welcome.”
Delana Hulthouse, an 8th grader at DMS, said, “Since the theme is space. I assume that it will be intergalactic and alien decorations. Hulthouse went on to say, “I think that this is a fun theme and it’s not super boring. It’s something new and exciting.”
Ashton Hall is one of the Student council sponsors, Hall said, “We did a pole for the theme, and the space theme won by 1 vote. Neon was a close 2nd, however, the space theme won so that will be the theme of the dance.”
Tenley Robinson is a representative for her 1st-hour class, Robison said, “The theme for the dance will be space, however, we still are talking about what we will name it. I’m excited for the dance because I love school dances.”
Collins Budowsky is a 7th-grade student at DMS who will be attending the dance. Budowsky said, “It is space-themed, not formal. Although I was hoping for a formal dance.” She continued to say, “Although we already have decided on a theme, we still need to think of a name.”
