The Metal Gear series is a big hit or miss in its games, some are fun and great like Snake Eater. Then there’s peacemaker, we don’t talk about peacemaker because most of the gameplay is just running around a map doing stuff.
But the lore is quite literally everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. Part of it is behind a secret minigame where you run around popping balloon monkeys, and it also includes talking cats. It also includes putting dead people into AI-powered machines and cloning a retired national hero, a big boss.
Heck, everyone who owns Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, is the big boss! Your character you make is brainwashed into thinking they’re big boss to draw attention away from the real big boss! Heck, even the character-making screen tells you that you should make yourself in the game!
So that goes into my second point, I am Big Boss. And everyone who has made a character in the game is a big boss, which means I’m a big boss. But back to the lore of the game, the reason why Big Boss is named Big Boss is because he was kinda forced to kill The Boss in Snake Eater, his trainer who gave him the skills to even become this.
That’s only scratching the surface of the iceberg, there’s way more than that. So if you have a couple of spare hours and you’re bored, look up the lore of Metal Gear Solid.
