After a long wait, Duncan Middle School finally has selected its Student Council officers.
Those selected were President Ava Johnson, Vice President Amiya Williams, Secretary Aubrie Stratton, Treasurer Vivienne Albin and Reporter Kierney Holthaus. Of the five positions, only the president and secretary offices had more than one person running.
In fact, three people ran for Student Council president. Johnson beat out fellow candidates Brady Earsom and Dylan Hardy for the top position.
“I’m excited and ready to start working on the school,” Johnson said after her win.
Stratton was up against Kenzie Sherrill for the secretarial role.
“I feel very relieved,” Stratton said. “I was never anxious to see who would win, and when I found out, I won, I was super excited.”
The other officers said they are excited about being part of Student Council this year.
“It was a great and an awesome opportunity for me,” Williams said.
Albin said she loves the fact that she gets to contribute to Student Council.
“I feel like I’m hard working enough to bring what I need to to the StuCo team,” she said.
Holthaus had similar thoughts.
“I feel very honored and am excited to be part of StuCo this year,” she said.
