The first FCA meeting of the school year was postponed today because the speakers were unable to make it.
Mandy Robbins, FCA sponsor, said the meeting is being rescheduled, although it may not be until next month before the meeting occurs.
In the past, students gathered during their lunch periods for FCA. The meetings took place in the wrestling room, and students listened to various speakers, whether athletes or youth pastors. The meetings gave students time for prayer and connection.
However, concerns with COVID-19 has changed things this year.
Students will continue to meet in the wrestling room. But the meetings have been moved to the mornings before school, and the guest speakers will be members of the high school FCA.
“It is a time where athletes can come together to hear motivational speeches,” Robbins said.
FCA has been a long-standing tradition at Duncan Middle School. Former middle school social studies teacher Mike Fitts brought the program to DMS. When he moved to the high school, Robbins took lead of the program at DMS.
