Art students at Duncan Middle School worked hard on their recycled art projects in late October. Their hard work finally paid off, as the results were shown through a virtual ceremony Nov. 20.
The Duncan students took two of the top three spots with their works.
Seventh-grade students, which created a quilt project from crayons, took second place. The eighth-grade students who created an American flag from trash, took third. The sixth-grade students did not make it to the finals.
The recycled art competition is statewide in Oklahoma, as part of the “Keep Oklahoma Beautiful” campaign. The art had to be made out of recycled materials that had to be made into a new purpose.
DMS art teacher Shelly Farrar worked with her students to develop the project before they created their masterpieces.
