“1,000 to 1: The Cory Weissman Story” is a very inspirational movie, and although not much of the 1 hour and 40 minutes is spent on basketball and the sport itself, there’s a great message behind the story.
In the movie they point out that everything happens for a reason. It’s an eye-opener and shows that even when life hits you with something hard, there’s a reason for it and you just have to fight back harder.
After scoring 1,000 points in high school, college freshmen Cory Weissman is looking for a promising basketball career until he collapses unexpectedly after having a stroke. Weissman is unable to use his left side and things aren’t looking good, but he doggedly begins physical therapy with the help of his mom.
As he struggles to put his life back together and go back to school, he deals with depression, an uphill recovery and trying to find meaning in his life beyond basketball.
In the end i think it is a great movie with a story that is inspiring and motivational, but if you’re looking for an action filled, sports movie, you might want to keep looking.
