Whipple said, “My mom was the one who wanted me to do weightlifting, but I’m enjoying it.” He also said, “I focus on my legs much more than on other stuff because I want big calves.” He went on to say, “Weightlifting is never really hard, just a lot of benching but it’s effortless.”
Kennedi Riddles is another 8th grade student who is in weightlifting. Riddles says “I joined weightlifting because it’s a great way to get in shape and to get strong and to get prepared for your sports and I want the gains.” She also said, “I have been weightlifting since the beginning of the school year and I think I have made a lot of progress.” She went on to say, “ I focus on my legs mainly because of quads and calves. I think maxing is one of the hardest things in weightlifting because it’s a struggle to get back up when you reach the weight you can’t do.”
