Wrestling is starting to come to an end as the wrestlers and coaches prepare for state. As one of the final tournaments of the season, the boy’s wrestling team went to Chickisha.
This season Addison Rannberg is the manager of the boys wrestling team. She went to the Chickasha tournament to “help the boys have a smooth warmup and practice and get them the things they needed to be successful.” Ranberg says “The boys did well at the tournament.” She also said, “The boys have improved so much since the beginning of the season.” She stated, “Before the tournament, I help them pack their bags and give them snacks.”
Jack Lovett is on the boy’s 8th-grade wrestling team. Lovett says “At the Chickasha tournament we placed 5th overall and it went pretty well.” He said, “Something I can fix is better last-second defense.” He also stated, “I learned there are a lot of good teams, and that I did my best.” He said, “I expected the tournament to be tough, and it was.”
Cord Byerly is on the boy’s 8th-grade wrestling team as well. Byerly said, “My team placed 5th overall, but sadly we lost a spot and ended up in 5th place. He stated, “ I got 1 in 2nd.” He says that to improve his game, he “needs to gain more weight and muscle for my weight class.” He expected the tournament to be tough and it was, but he went in hoping for a win.
Landry Walters is on the 7th-grade boys’ wrestling team. Walters says, “My team placed 5th overall and I got second.” He said, “Something I can fix on my results from Saturday is being smarter with my moves.” He also said, “One thing I learned from the tournament was that there will always be good kids.” Something I expected beforehand at the tournament was that there were going to be strong kids and it was going to be tough.”
