Two Duncan Middle School teachers are heading from the classroom to the stage.
Derrick Miller, journalism teacher, and Teresa Blalock, sixth-grade English teacher, will perform in Duncan Little Theatre’s production of “Someone Save My Baby Ruth or . . . Foil that Villain.” The show is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sept. 16 and 17 at the Marlow Opera House.
The melodrama revolves around a candy shop and villain who wants to close the shop so he can buy it, Miller said.
The play has five men, seven women and a girl. Miller stars as police office Ernest Noble, who is the romantic lead who falls in love with Penny Candy. Candy is the niece of Praline Candy, played by Blalock. Praline Candy is the candy shop owner.
Blalock initially did not audition for the show, but had taken her daughter, Sadie, to auditions. While at auditions, Blalock read some lines and was asked to do the play.
“I’m glad that I chose to be in the play, but I’m not ready to do the big Simmons Center stage.”
