Does anyone remember DVD stores? Like one day they were everywhere, but now they’re all gone.
We had one by Walgreens. We had another next to the Chisholm Mall. There were DVD aisles and baskets at Walmart; those are still there, but not as much as it used to be.
But like Family Video and Blockbuster, DVDs are gone now. You barely see them anymore.
Now thinking about it, I feel old.
I don’t even really know if they sell them like they used to. And it feels weird because they were there everywhere, and the next thing you know, they were gone.
You might still find some DVDs in garage sales. You might even see a few at Walmart. But it seems they have phased out.
Don’t even get me started on VHS tapes. Those were long gone before I was even more.
I remember going to the state to look at the new “Walking Dead” seasons on DVD or the “Angry Birds” move on DVD. These memories seem so long ago. Just remembering them makes me feel old.
Once Family Video disappeared (same as with Blockbuster who inhabited the same building before Family Video moved in), things changed. Now, instead of a video store or video rental place, it’s an urgent med center.
Somehow, that’s just not the same.
The lack of DVDs is weird, especially since they used to be all over the place.
You can still find some DVDS in the very back of Walmart, but even that has become a shadow of its former self.
The memories of you mom buying the rip-off version of “Cars” or “Toy Story” may live on, but now the options are limited.
Good luck on your DVD hunts at Walmart (way in the back) or at Goodwill. You’ll probably need it.
