The Demon Direct isn’t just a news website for my school; it’s a way for students to learn.
Students enrolled in the DMS journalism classes learn how to work with cameras, camcorders and lots more. The classes you can take include yearbook, newspaper, production (blogging, podcasting, video news), and sixth and seventh-grade journalism classes.
Derrick Miller is the journalism teacher. I have been in Miller’s class since sixth grade, and I think it has been good for my personal experience. I love being in his class because of all the cool opportunities we have.
All my friends do, too.
If you do your work, you can have the opportunity to learn how to take pictures and so much more.
Some of my friends say its always a good learning experience with a lot of stuff that they did not know before.
Miller is the current teacher of the year for Duncan Middle School and was named the adviser of the year by Oklahoma Scholastic Media in April of this year. So, that is not bias.
He can take a joke and even lets us eat in his class some day. If you get enough views on the website, the class is able to earn a food day, which is a day when the class brings snacks to share.
Miller is really into the school and helps a lot of clubs.
