The Duncan Middle School varsity volleyball team found itself in a battle against Lawton Mac. This was a battle won by the Lady Demons.

On Tuesday, DMS junior varsity and varsity teams played against Lawton Mac with both games going into a third set, which was played to only 15 points instead of the usual 25 points.
“I am excited to see the seventh-graders and eighth-graders grow and win games,” head coach Bayil Gilland said.
The varsity team won its first set, but took a big loss during the second set. However, the Lady Demons lost its third set.
Junior varsity won its third set 15 to 14.
Kamryn Heilman, assistant coach, said the team is playing well this season, but thinks the team members need to work on communication.
“I am excited to see everyone improve,” Heilman said.
This was not the first game of the season for the Duncan teams.
Volleyball had its first game Aug. 14, which happened to be the first day of school for DMS. Both teams went up against Lawton Bishop with both teams winning their two sets.
The varsity team worked to hype the JV team during its game by chanting “O-U-T. O.U.T.”
The hype-up must have worked; JV won the first set 25 to 17 and the second set 25 to 22. The hype continued with varsity, as the team won its first set 25 to 5 and the second set 25 to 3.
The teams also went against El Reno on Aug. 21 at the Jenks Fieldhouse.
JV lost its first set with El Reno taking a bit lead. However, the second set was much closer with El Reno besting Duncan 24 to 23.
“We tried our hardest but we will improve next time” seventh-grade volleyball player Kylie McPherson said..
Varsity, on the other hand, won both of its sets against El Reno.
