The Duncan Middle School fundraiser is drawing to a close.
Chocolate and money for the Big Kahuna fundraiser is due today, although money and chocolate has already started getting collected.
The fundraiser started with an assembly Aug. 26.
Many students who are participating in the fundraiser have sold more than one box. Each box has 30 chocolate bars. Each chocolate bar sold for 2 dollars each, meaning that each box could earn 60 dollars in revenue.
Kaylee French, seventh-grade student, is one of the students who is participating in the chocolate bar fundraiser.
French said likes the challenge.
Students have the opportunity to earn prizes based off how much chocolate they sell. If they sell three boxes, they earn a ride on one of eight of the Big Kahuna party buses. With every box sold, participants gets two of this year’s dinosaurs collectables; there are 20 different variations.
The fundraiser is being used to help finance the DMS office account, which is used for various things throughout the year. The office account previously has been used to fund incentives for students, provided snacks for teachers at different times of the year, purchase prizes for students of the month, and funds events, such as the Evening of Excellence, where students get recognized by their teachers. Although the list of the uses for the office account goes on.
