Duncan Middle School students and teachers were ready for a chance to reset from the hectic school year. The opportunity came in the shape of Fall Break.
Fall Break went from Oct. 15 to 21.
Fall break is not just an interruption in the calendar; it is for students to de-stress, recharge, and rest before the end of the semester ends.
Fall Break can also be used for a catch up week. Students sometimes have work piled up from many things outside of school, which is why they could use Fall Break as a catch up week. Fall break varies by institutions.
For eighth-grader Khloe Love, Fall Break was much needed.
¨Yes I’m excited for Fall Break, so I can sleep,¨ Love said prior to Fall Break.
The break came at the end of the first quarter of the school year. It marks the first big break for the school year, which will be followed by Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, Spring Break and finally Summer Break when the year ends.
Students spend Fall Break differently.
Some might be going to Fall Fest, which is an event in the Simmons Center, while others might go on a trip. Some people were planning to just spend the break at home and have a few days to themselves.
Eighth-grader Adran Pearl said she would be going to Fall Fest to hangout with some friends. And eighth-grader Khloe Lowe said she does not have any plans for Fall Break.
