“Crashout” took on a whole new meaning the last two weeks, as students and teachers got into the festive spirit of the season.
Duncan Middle School hosted Christmas Crashout, which is a series of dress-up days to get kids and staff members in the holiday spirit. The Crashout ran for the last two weeks of the semester.
“I will be participating in every day except for Camo Day since I don’t think I have anything camo,” journalism teacher Derrick Miller said. “I love the idea of Christmas Crashout because it not only gets everyone in the mood for Christmas, but it also helps spread school spirit.”
During the nine-day celebration, students and teachers had the option to dress up. The dress-up days included:
- Dec. 8: PJ Day
- Dec. 9: Festive Hats
- Dec. 10: Christmas Socks
- Dec. 11: Ugly Christmas Sweaters
- Dec. 12: Rudolph Red
- Dec. 15: Grinch Day
- Dec. 16: Comfy Christmas
- Dec. 17: Camo Day
- Today: Plaid/Flannel
Seven Dixson, technology exploration teacher, said he missed dressing up for some of the days, but he understands the purpose behind the dress-up event. He said Christmas Crashout is all about bringing the festive spirit and getting people jolly before Christmas Break and the holiday season.
Dixson and Miller both decorated in their classrooms to help instill some of holiday spirit in their students. Miller adorned his classroom with a regular sized Christmas tree, a miniature Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations. The large tree was used as a place to put toys from the NJHS toy drive, which took place earlier this month.
Miller said he likes the idea of Christmas Crashout. His only issue with the event is that there should be more people who participating in dressing up for the event.
With the conclusion of Christmas Crashout and all classes today, Christmas Break is set to begin.
