The Blanchard Tournament is scheduled for this weekend, and the Duncan Middle School basketball teams will be heading that way.
Parker Sanders, eighth-grader, said he is looking forward to the tournament and things the team will do well.
Sanders wants to play Lawton Central but doesn’t want to play Tuttle. He feels like he needs to improve his shooting. As a team, he thinks they need to make more mid-range shots.
He said, “ I am confident in my team because we all know our responsibilities,” Sanders said. “I’m confident in myself because I play excellent defense in my opinion.”
Delaney Ward is nervous but excited for this tournament.
She said she does want to play Noble, but doesn’t want to play Lawton Central.
She thinks personally she needs to work on her dribbling effectively. As a team, they need to work on making shots off the dribble.
She believes in her team because they all work hard.
“I believe in myself because I do very well on defense,” Ward said.
Olivia Edwards is nervous for the tournament because they are playing teams they don’t play in the regular season.
She is also not excited about playing Lawton Central, but is excited about playing Noble.
She feels like she needs to work on driving more, so she can score more points inside. She feels that as a team, she needs to look for the easy shots so it’s easier to score.
“ I am very confident in my team because of how hard we work in practice and in games,” Edwards said. “I am confident in myself because I can take care of the ball and run the offense effectively.”
