The Duncan Middle School soccer’s first tournament was the round-robin scrimmage on Monday in Lawton.
This tournament was a pre-season tournament and was helpful for the coaches to see where their players are before the season starts. It also gives them an idea where the team stands.
Both girls and boys went to the tournament. The boys first game at the tournament was at 8 a.m., and the girls first game was at 8 a.m.
Oscar Tovar, a seventh-grader, thinks the tournament went well.
“I think our tournament will go well” Tovar said. “I think we will lose some and win some.”
Many players think their teammates and themselves need to improve on many different things.
Chanel Thompson, a seventh-grader, thinks her team needs to improve on communication. While Mark Hays, boys head soccer coach, thinks his players could improve on many things.
“There is always room for improvement, and my players need to improve on ball control and passing,” Hays said.
Victor Acosta, the girls head soccer coach, thinks his team was ready for the tournament.
“I think my team was prepared for this tournament,” Acosta said. “They’ve been working hard to earn their spots to be able to go to the tournament, and they are doing well with everyone on the team. I think they will do very well in the tournament.”
Everyone is hoping for a great season.
Jackie Esparza, eighth-grader, hopes that the season goes well.
“I hope the season goes well, and we will learn how to work together as a team,” Esparza said.
Duncan middle school soccer’s first game is scheduled for March 9 at Lawton Eisenhower. Both girls and boys will be going to the same place and same day for their first games. The girls start at 5 p.m., and the boys game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
